It was nominated for a VES Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature for Young Woman and the Sea. In an effort led by VFX Supervisor Jeremy Robert and VFX Producer Roy Khalil, the over 220 VFX shots were lavished over in close collaboration with director Joachim Rønning.
Artists added great digital ocean enhancement to calm plates, capturing breathtakingly the ceaseless intensity that Trudy Ederle conveyed in her iconic English Channel swim. A specific jellyfish sequence was particularly gripping – CG creatures slipped seamlessly into the live-action shot, heightening tension and catapulting the viewers into the journey.
Every shot was designed to fit Rønning’s creative vision, showcasing MPC‘s ability to deliver both technical precision and emotional resonance. This VFX achievement is a testament to the studio’s dedication to elevating storytelling through photorealistic visual effects.
