In Wicked, the magical land of Oz unites humans and talking animals, showing a unique society where creatures hold significant roles. Doctor Dillamond, a CG goat voiced by Peter Dinklage, plays a crucial part in Elphaba’s journey as her teacher at the university.
Framestore‘s VFX team brought this character to life with extraordinary attention to detail. Advanced fur simulation was used to create a lifelike goat coat, and his facial expressions and movements were natural and expressive. The challenge was to maintain the animal’s realistic features while adding human-like qualities to reflect his personality.
The team collaborated with motion references and Dinklage’s vocal performance to develop a believable and engaging character. The integration of Doctor Dillamond into the world of Wicked so seamlessly showcases the expertise of Framestore in developing realistic, emotionally compelling CGI creations.
