Wētā FX brought Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to life by crafting massive titans in a world with no sky and shifting gravity. They developed new creatures like Suko (a rebellious young ape), Skar King (a tyrannical ruler), and Shimo (an ice-breathing titan).
Suko was designed as a punk teenager, with motion capture performances adding to his expressive personality. A standout moment was Kong using Suko as a weapon, an idea that unexpectedly stayed in the film. Skar King, Kong’s sneaky and manipulative opponent, was given long, spider-monkey-like arms for unique combat movements.
The film’s procedural environments included 400 million geometry instances, realistic water simulations, and Icelandic landscape references for authenticity. The Kong vs. Skar King battle doubled in length, adding key emotional moments.
Wētā FX’s cutting-edge virtual cinematography and VFX advancements made these larger-than-life titans feel real and immersive.
